Tell us briefly about your background and how you got started in your medium.
I am a graduate of Capital Area School for the Arts. The medium I studied while in school was visual art. I actually happen to practice visual art in addition to music and photography professionally.
How does your medium inform your viewpoint? What do you like most about your medium?
I enjoy being behind a lens because it gives me an opportunity to reframe perspective. It also gives me the opportunity to observe things objectively that I would otherwise not. Having the opportunity to manage how a subject gets depicted is pretty powerful.
Who or what have been your artistic inspiration?
I have always been inspired by the process of finding a subject to snap. I never head out with any expectation in my mind other than seeing what I can find.
Do you have a favorite piece in your portfolio?
My favorite piece would be the larger print of the frog. I took it at Wildwood, in Harrisburg while I was on a creative walk.
What would be your advice to artists just starting out in your medium?
There are fundamentals and good ideas as to how to approach subjects but in all honesty, there are absolutely no rules to follow.
